Course Content

Aims and objectives
This qualification aims to:
• focus on the study of the adult care worker role in care settings
• offer breadth and depth of study, incorporating a key core of knowledge
• provide opportunities to acquire a number of practical and technical skills
The objectives of this qualification are to:
• build knowledge and skills to work in adult care in health and social care settings in England
• cover a wide range of areas allowing learners to tailor the qualification to meet their needs, interests,
preferred progression paths and the context of their job role

Entry is at the discretion of the centre, in accordance with the Equality Act 2010. However, learners should be aged 16 or above to undertake this qualification.

Learners are required to successfully achieve 39 credits from the mandatory units and a minimum of 19 credits from the optional units. At least 35 credits must be achieved at level 3 or above.

• Level 5 Diploma in Leadership and Management for Adult Care
• Level 5 Diploma in Leadership for Health and Social Care and Children and Young People’s Services (England)

Learners can usually complete the qualification in 12 to 24 months.
